From the way I see it، we Americans shoot ourselves in the foot. Just think for a moment about how we live and what we buy. What in your home was made in America? Not much، huh? Blame Wal-Mart. This gargantuan superstore chain has destroyed our economy. Far too many Americans shop there because its cheap and they can walk out with a lot of stuff. Gee، I wonder why? Could it be because everything in Wal-Mart comes from China? What kind of American starts a business like this anyway? It was an American! Some business nut out there looking to make his millions. Sure، at the cost of our countrys economic state.
It almost seems impossible to buy everything made in America، doesnt it? The problem leads back to whats shipped over here. Products from China، Pakistan، Taiwan، and Japan. And thats just naming a few. What about all the things that are made in America? Where are they? Well، here is one of the problems. Individuals cant compete with the cheap foreign stuff. Lets say I wanted to open a Fish and Tackle shop. Lets say everything I sell is crafted here in the states. I could sell it for the equal amount I put into it، but it still couldnt compete with Wal-Mart. They are selling Chinese products at dirt cheap prices. Sure، theyre cheap، but so are a lot of shoppers. Middles America isnt looking to pay much. They want to know what they can acquire for the lowest cost. One problem with the Wal-Mart system is the cuts. You have oodles of Wal-Mart employees، but theyre kept at a certain amount of hours. This way Wal-Mart can avoid giving health benefits، because that would cost them more money. Wow، talk about sacrificing integrity for some extra cash.
Believe it or not، but I do buy products that are made in America. Theyre custom knives. This is one of the few great things that Americans still make by hand. Now، when I say great، I mean outstanding cutlery. There are a large slew of American custom knife makers to choose from. They may be pricey، but they are made in America. Thats a lot more than I can say for the cars folks drive these days.
